Adding Image Alt Tags To Your Web Page
The use of images in your page or post helps to enhance your readers
experience as long as they are relevant to the content. Adding alt tags
to pictures is easy to overlook if we get in a hurry.
The problem is that the search engine robots cannot index
images unless they have the proper tags. In other words an image
itself can’t be identified by the search engines, but the image alt tag and any
descriptive text can. And so this is very important in order to bring up
the quality score of your post or page.
The alt tags should be keyword rich with the relevant content of your post.
Your images should be named with relevant keywords as much possible
so that they can help the quality score of your post or page also.
We all use images in our pages that have nothing to do with the actual
content. For instance, we may have an image of a button, an arrow, or
our signature. Let’s just take for example the signature image
on our landing page. If we name that file signature.jpg then when the
search engines come in and look at it they will see that signature has
nothing to do with your content.
So we’re going to suggest naming your signature file 1s.jpg. This will help
the search engines to ignore the file name rather than penalize you. In
another example, if you use a bunch of buttons as images in front of
indented text you’re better off to number the file names.
Always double check to make sure that all of your images have alt tags.
This can be very crucial to your quality score. As you are growing your
business online use search engine optimization as much as possible.
